A-

ah the big assignment, when the teacher showed us, i said, 'yeah right!'. we were all given the same structural layout; our task to apply the design, hard surfaces, structural elements, planting etc the black and white was handed in as one assignment, next was to apply the colour and ta da the final plan. although this was the 'big one' we had assignments due each class, my favourites are actually the felt marker and ink drawings we did, cross sections, trees, axonometrics (what?).

now what? right i promised myself to enjoy the proces, stay in the moment, let it go where it needs to go, easier said the done, i really loved it and already miss it. :) glad to have some time to blog again though! looking forward to visiting you all!

Just curious, when they give you an assignment like this, do they also give you the intended imaginary homeowners wants & needs? How does the assignment come about?

If you build it, they will come.

hey JCharlier - we were all given the same outline or layout of grass, deck area, house location, the teacher had a predetermined plan so those needs were mostly pre established, we then focused on what kind of hardscape, brick, stone what kind of planting/layout, how would the deck planks look or be designed (boards can be shown in all kinds of wasy!), descriptions of elements, such as fence height and materials. whether it was a modern or traditional design was really up to us, i need more material knowledge that's for sure, hope that gives you a sense!
